| | 7 | Off of the guest room is guest shelving (again from The Container Store). And stacked washer and dryer. The chosen appliances are a good compromise. I've experienced two extremes of laundry appliances (heavy US machines and Asian/European machines that claim to execute the whole process of washing and spin drying). We couldn't accept the massive space required by US-style machines. But those dual-function machines do a pretty marginal job. They require more service than a home appliance should demand. And they don't clear enough detergent/softener residue. I've done two washes now. (Jon's original washer conveniently broke down just as the new ones were being installed.)
